“Art in the Snow” Events at Brandon Music

Brandon, VT -

Brandon Music is pleased to welcome Rutland area vocalist, Olivia Gawet, in the first of a series of benefit concerts to raise money for the new Compass Music and Arts Center on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 2 PM in the Music Café. She will be accompanied on the piano by Rip Jackson, who is the Minister of Music at Grace Congregational Church in Rutland and Director of the Rutland Area Chorus and Orchestra.

Olivia, a Rutland native, has been singing since an early age, studied at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, as a Music Major, and performed in many vocal ensembles while there.

After graduation, Olivia decided to remain in the Rutland area. She regularly performs with the Rutland Area Chorus, presents solo recitals, and sings with the all female chorus Ladies' Night Out. In January of 2011, she performed for the first time with the Weston Opera Theatre in Weston, Vt, in their production of Mozart's “The Magic Flute”. Olivia cantors regularly at St Bridget's Church in West Rutland, and sings for weddings, funerals and other events.

There will be a $10.00 admission fee, with all proceeds going to the new Center. Further donations are welcome and can be given to our new non-profit organization, the Compass Music and Arts Foundation, Inc.

On Saturday, the 18 th , Ruth Hamilton will be in the gallery from 1 to 4 PM with one of her pieces she is currently working on to give some insight into her creative process. Her work exemplifies the wonderment of nature and an intimate view of life.  Beautiful and unusual use of color is a major strength of her work . The exhibit of her paintings, in our gallery until the end of February, has been drawing enthusiastic response for its originality and beauty.

Both of these events are part of Brandon's “Art in the Snow” weekend,

February 18-19, 2012.
