MODERN JAZZ AT BRANDON MUSIC.

Brandon, VT

Brandon Music is proud to present eminent jazz musicians John Fischer and Rob Zollman in a magical night of improvised jazz on Friday July 1st.

John Fischer, pianist/composer, has been on the New York Jazz and improvising music scene for four decades. He was one of the first to organize venues where musicians and other artists could present their work with no editorial interference.  In the mid seventies he and Danny and Chris Brubeck created the ENVIRON loft. It became the leading venue for avant-garde music, launching new talent from the US and Europe. ENVIRON received world -wide publicity and the Loft Jazz movement fostered alternative "creative" environments.  Fischer has recorded 13 albums as leader of INTERface and in duos and solo settings.

He is an accomplished pianist and performs often with Rob Zollman who is his favorite percussionist (and nephew!). He is also the author of recently published book of poems ‘Love Condition' and is working on his autobiography.
Brandon resident Rob Zollman, drummer/percussionist and music educator, has enjoyed a long career performing in jazz, blues, rock and classical genres. Currently he plays with John Fischer's INTERface, Chuck Miller Ensemble, EnerJazz, the Keating 5 and Left Eye Jump.

As an educator, Rob is committed to accessways into music for people of all ages: as a certified instructor of the Sally's Music Circle program for very young children, as a private and group drum and percussion teacher, and as a facilitator of community rhythm (drum) events for adults and kids. He especially enjoys working with mentally and physically challenged people and at-risk children.

In 2002, Rob authored a comprehensive drum method book entitled Whole Music Drumming. He is currently working on a CD and book set which provides a clear entryway into music for adults who have always wanted to go from being music appreciators to being music participants.

Fischer and Zollman appear live at Brandon Music on FRIDAY July 1, at 7.00. Tickets are $15.00. Refreshments will be available.
