CONTEMPORARY FREE JAZZ CONCERT AT BRANDON MUSIC

Brandon Music is pleased to announce the NY based free-jazz quartet, featuring Daniel Carter, Claire DeBrunner, Ken Silverman, and Tom Zlabinger will perform at Brandon Music on September 25, 2010 at 8:00 PM.
This Quartet, when collectively locking in on its musical ideas, seems to take the music into a realm where the subconscious and the spiritual meet. There is a deep allegiance in this music to allow for both a compelling groove as well as intense melodic interaction between the instruments. As befitting its core instrumentation of reeds, bassoon, electric guitar, and double bass, the music at times develops in classical composition-like ways. On the other hand, these are all players deeply connected with the New York City improvised music/free- jazz scene, and their individual and collective language is drawn largely from that world. It is important to note that while there is some individual soloing, the focus is on spontaneous group interaction and the creation of ideas that are developed and expanded naturally, allowing for a more compositional and textured sound.
The quartet will perform at Brandon Music, Saturday September 25, 2010 at 8:00PM. Tickets ($15.00) can be purchased at Brandon Music or by calling 802-465-4071 (10:00 am to 6:00pm any day except Tuesday). Seating is Limited, so reservation is strongly advised. Ticket price includes complimentary beverages, and the Harmony range of cakes sweets and delights will be available, too.

Brandon Music is pleased to announce a public reception for the internationally recognized artist Warren Kimble, and exhibition of his contemporary art. The reception with Mr. Kimble will take place on September 5, 2010 at 3-6 pm at Brandon Music. The artwork is displayed in The Gallery as well as in the "Barn". The "Barn" is a beautifully restored Vermont Barn which was the old studio of Warren Kimble which is now the Harmony Tea Room and performing arts space for Brandon Music.

The works on display will be from several of his new collections, "Let the Sun Shine", "Widows of War", and Mr. Kimble's other contemporary paintings. These works are bright, vibrant and heavily textured abstract paintings, quite different than the pastoral imagery of his earlier folk art paintings. Several beautiful paintings will be included from the dramatic and acclaimed collection recently displayed at the Shelburne Museum, "The Widows of War". These collections have also recently been on show at Syracuse University and in New York City. Also included will be paintings from the "Let the Sun Shine" Collection, receiving the world premiere showing at Brandon; paintings which evoke feelings of hope and promise of the future.

The artwork will be displayed for viewing and sale in the music cafe and The Gallery at Brandon Music. The show is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm daily (but closed on Tuesday).

Brandon, VT - The Gallery at Brandon Music hosts a new exhibition of paintings by the internationally acclaimed artist Warren Kimble which will run from the beginning of June until further notice.

Warren Kimble and his wife Lorraine are leading lights in the town of Branodon where they have been resident for 40 years. The folk art style which Warren developed over several years made him a household name, with original works, prints and merchandise using his designs sold in many countries throughout the world. He then switched to a new modern abstract style commencing with the 'Widows of War' collection and is now working in a vibrant yet gentle style with his 'Let the Sun Shine' collection and other works which are destined again to be highly sought after. The Gallery at Brandon Music is in fact Kimble's former studio and gallery which he sold to new owners Stephen and Edna Sutton five years ago so in a sense his work is 'coming home' in this new show. All of the items on exhibit are for sale.

A formal opening reception is to be arranged in the near future, details will be announced and posted on the Brandon Music website.
