The Ricochet Duo presents “Wired” at Brandon Music

 

Brandon, VT -
Ricochet Duo, the collaboration between pianist Rose Chancler and percussionist Jane Boxall, perform at Brandon Music May 7 at 7:30pm. Acclaimed songwriter, Rupert Wates, performs at Brandon Music

Since coming to the US in 2006, Rupert Wates has won more than 30 songwriting awards. AMP The Magazine says he is “more compelling, more sympathetic and more emotionally accessible than many other modern performers." Animals come to Brandon Music with Arioso's ‘Zoologica'

 

Brandon, VT -
Central Vermont's critically and audience acclaimed chamber music ensemble returns to Brandon Music on March 26 at 7:30pm with a concert of varied and entertaining music for piano, voice, and viola. Arioso will perform music of Granados, Ives, Saint-Saens, Shostakovich, Hoiby and Vermont composer Kathy Eddy. All the works on the program have an animal title or theme. The featured work is the premiere of “A Child's Book of Animals” by Worcester composer Michael Close. The success of Close's last year's Cheese Songs, led him to create for Arioso a song cycle which includes sinuous melodies of Octopus, a rapping Swan, the Seagull's fishing expedition, and the somnolent philosophy of the Sloth. It is the mission of Arioso to highlight new works by contemporary Vermont composers in all the group's concerts.

Vermont Virtuosi presents ‘Once Upon a Time' at Brandon Music

Folk-inspired classical music with Annemieke and Jeremiah McLane at Brandon Music

Dutch pianist Annemieke McLane and accordionist Jeremiah McLane, a Vermont-based couple, perform their own arrangements of existing folk-inspired classical music, a repertoire they found fit their diverse musical backgrounds and interest in a wide variety of music. Classical pianist Monica Jakuc Leverett performs at Brandon Music

Classical pianist, Monica Jakuc (pronounced Ya'kutch) Leverett presents ‘ Moonlit Hits and Little-known Gems', a program of all-time classical piano favorites, mixed with beautiful, rare pieces at Brandon Music on October 24 at 7:30pm. Ms. Jakuc Leverett will perform Beethoven's “Moonlight” Sonata, Debussy's “Clair de lune” and Schubert's Impromptu in Bb Major, Op. 142, No. 3. Less well-known, but equally stunning, are New England composer Amy Beach's nature pieces, which Ms. Jakuc Leverett likes to call “A Day in the Woods with Amy Beach.” This group consists of two hermit thrush pieces, plus musical portrayals of a chipmunk, a hummingbird and young birches. A group of études for piano by Polish composer Maria Szymanowska, half a generation older than Chopin, will also be included. They will be presented with études by her contemporaries J.B. Cramer, Marie Bigot, and Frédéric Chopin.

The Yabuno Ettun Project back at Brandon Music by popular demand

Haruka Yabuno and Ehud Ettun first met when they arrived in the U.S. four years ago; they didn't then have a common language to speak, so music became their first shared language. The piano and bass duo known as the Yabuno Ettun Project are returning to Brandon Music on June 27th at 7:30pm for their third performance. After their debut concert in August 2014, Brandon Music was eager to get them back to share the astounding talent of these two young, accomplished musicians again. Now by popular demand, they return just before they set off on a tour of their home countries.

Brandon Music presents the Northern Third Piano Quartet

The  Northern Third Piano Quartet  returns to Brandon Music to perform a powerful musical program on June 20th at 7:30pm. This program includes solo and duo music of Mozart, Shostakovich, the U.S. premiere of Middlebury composer Jorge Martin's “Don't Know Yet”, and Schumann's Piano Quartet in E-Flat Major, Op. 47, one of the greatest works in the piano quartet repertoire.

Chamber music with Arioso at Brandon Music

On May 30, at 7:30pm, Central Vermont's acclaimed chamber music ensemble performs at Brandon Music with varied music for piano, voice, and viola. At this spring concert, Arioso will perform music of Henry Purcell, J.S. Bach, Charles Ives, and Rebecca Clarke, plus two works by Vermont composers, the ‘Romance for viola and piano' by Jacob Morton-Black, and the ‘Cheese Songs', a delightful and moving song cycle by Worcester composer, Michael Close. Highlighting new works by contemporary Vermont composers is the mission of Arioso.

Brandon Music Presents Blackbird

There will be a welcome return to Brandon Music for local duo Blackbird, after their 2014 concert thrilled the audience with their lively tunes and interaction. The duo, made up of Rachel Clark and Bob DeMarco perform traditional Celtic and Scandinavian music as well as tunes of their own creation on April 25th at 7:30pm. Acoustic Double-neck guitarist Ian Ethan Case returns to Brandon Music

Following a very successful performance last year, which left the audience exhilarated, exhausted, amazed and enthralled, Ian Ethan Case will give a second not-to-be-missed performance at Brandon Music on Saturday, March 14th at 7:30pm. Ian is only about one of five musicians worldwide to tackle the acoustic double-necked guitar in earnest. Drawing on a diverse musical background that saw Ian taking piano lessons at the age of five and later studying the drums, orchestral percussion, saxophone, electric guitar and bass, he naturally moved into playing this extraordinary, seldom-seen instrument.
